Laneway Melbourne: A How To Guide
26 January 2010
Saturday 30 January is looking like a gorgeous day! At this stage a top of 31 is predicted ... but we all know what Melbourne's like, so check in with the BOM website later in the week for an update.
We've got a whole lot of FAQ's for you here, but here's a summary of things you might be wondering:
Enter the festival at the Crn or Moreland and Bunbury Streets - there is only one way in and you must approach from Bunbury st as Moreland street will be closed for the event.
Your ticket to the festival includes free public transport to and from the event so we urge you to use it! Metlink have even worked out the best ways for you to get here and home and posted them up on their site so go to www.metlinkmelbourne.com.au to plan your trip.
There is no parking at the festival site. A temporary TAXI rank will be in operation at the Footscray Train Station in case you fancy a lift home after the event.
Upon arrival at the Footscray Train Station, walk straight down Bunbury St to the festival entry - it's a short walk down lovely leafy streets and festival staff and security will be there along the way to help you.
There will be a mobile ATM located in the park next to the Car Park Stage, between the markets and the food vendors.
There will be free sunscreen available from the Info tent, First Aid and the TAC Vaness van next to the markets. Remember to be sunsafe and wear a hat (you can buy one at the merch tent if you don't have one).
Speaking of merch, We Buy Your Kids (the folks responsible for all of the festival artwork this year) have designed us some gorgeous new T'shirts, subby holders and a hat this year - all of which are available from the merch tent on Moreland St, just opposite the entry/exit. In addition to our festival merch, your favourite bands have supplied us with a wide array of great T's to sell on their behalf so don't forget to stop by and pick something up. Eftpos facilities available.
A food court will be located in the park next to the Car Park Stage which will satisfy your dietary needs.
Free water will be located at each bar and bottled water will be for sale at a very reasonable price, again stay hydrated and drink plenty of water throughout the day.
Please keep the site looking beautiful and respect the land we've borrowed, put rubbish in the bins, cans in the recycling cages and cigarette butts into bins too.
Markets - come and find a hidden treasure at this year's 3000 markets.
There is a cloak room on site - next to the info tent on Moreland st. You can leave your bags, excess clothes or markets/merch purchases for a reasonable fee but don't forget to pick them up at the end of the day!!
There will be a bag search on entry. No booze, glass, bottles of any kind, pets, illegal stuff or proffessional camera gear. Anything confiscated will not be returned.
Finally don't forget your Photo I.D (18 plus card, driver's licence or passport). Laneway is an over 18 event and you must be able to prove your age when entering the site.
